How to Schedule the CPC Exam in 2027: Vouchers and Booking Dates

How to redeem a CPC exam voucher, book a confirmed appointment, and work backward from a 2027 test date around the annual blackout, registration lead time, and change deadlines.

Short answer

To schedule the CPC exam in 2027, redeem your voucher in your AAPC account, then use the Notice to Schedule credentials to choose and confirm an appointment with Meazure Learning. AAPC says voucher redemption alone does not book the exam, and its CPC FAQ says to register three weeks before testing. Under the annual blackout rule checked November 3, 2026, exams resume on the second Monday of the new year, which is January 11 in 2027; confirm current instructions and actual availability before relying on that date.

What is different about planning an early-2027 appointment?

To schedule the CPC exam in 2027, redeem your voucher through your AAPC account, then complete appointment booking with Meazure Learning using your Notice to Schedule credentials. AAPC's scheduling guidance says redemption does not automatically reserve an appointment, and its CPC FAQ says to register three weeks before the exam.

An early-January target also meets the annual exam blackout. Under AAPC's rule, checked November 3, 2026, testing stops on December 30 for exam updates and resumes on the second Monday of the new year. Applying that standing rule to the calendar gives January 11, 2027. This is a calculated planning date, not a separately announced seat release or a promise that an appointment will be available that day.

AAPC's Exam Agreement also says U.S. exams update each January 1 to reflect that year's codes and guidelines. A candidate preparing across the year boundary should therefore confirm the exam year and resources before booking. Use the existing CPC code-year and approved-books guide for those details, and recheck AAPC's rules before purchasing or scheduling.

Start with a target month and a realistic review plan. For organizing that review, full CPC prep planned for launch is arranged across 18 sections. The appointment you ultimately choose should fit your preparation and the availability shown when you book.

What must you confirm before buying a voucher?

Check the following before committing money. These are current requirements and planning checks, not a guarantee of unchanged 2027 terms.

  • Your AAPC account and membership. AAPC's registration prerequisites list current membership, up-to-date contact information, a valid unused electronic voucher, matching government photo ID, and review of its exam tutorial. Compare your account details with the ID you will use.
  • Any accommodations. AAPC says accommodation requests must be approved before purchasing or scheduling an exam. Begin with the CPC accommodations process and confirm the approved booking arrangement with AAPC before continuing.
  • The voucher's usable period. The Exam Agreement, checked November 3, 2026, says exam fees must be used within one year of purchase and are nonrefundable and nontransferable. A purchase made well before your 2027 target needs an expiry check; a tentative study date does not extend the voucher.
  • Your delivery setup. Choose between remote testing and a testing center after checking the relevant requirements. For remote testing, AAPC says to pass its Test It Out check before scheduling. Resolve setup problems before selecting a date.

Read the purchase terms for the attempt or package you actually choose. The 2027 CPC cost-planning guide separates the exam purchase from membership, books, and other expenses. Reprice those items before paying rather than treating a current quote as a fixed future price.

How do redemption and appointment booking differ?

Think of the process as a sequence with three separate outcomes: you buy the exam, redeem the voucher, and confirm a specific appointment. AAPC's scheduling article, checked November 3, 2026, describes the following route:

  1. Sign in to your AAPC account. Open your purchases and locate the exam voucher you intend to use.
  2. Redeem that voucher. Follow the account instructions. Redemption moves you into scheduling; it is not proof that a date has been reserved.
  3. Continue to Meazure Learning. Use the credentials supplied in your Notice to Schedule.
  4. Choose the appointment. Select the delivery format, date, time, and location as applicable from the options actually offered.
  5. Confirm and retain the booking details. Check the confirmation against your intended appointment before you consider registration complete.

Actual inventory limits your choice. Finding a voucher in your account does not establish that your preferred Saturday or nearby center has room. If your first choice is unavailable, compare another offered date with your preparation plan and voucher expiry before accepting it.

If you cannot find the voucher or complete the handoff, ask AAPC for help with the account or voucher issue. Avoid buying another attempt simply because you have not yet reached an appointment confirmation.

How far ahead should you work back from a target date?

AAPC's CPC FAQ says to register three weeks before testing, as checked November 3, 2026. Start the account, accommodation, and setup work earlier; that instruction is not a promise of an available seat three weeks out. Do not assume an open-looking calendar overrides AAPC's registration instruction.

Here is an illustrative timeline for a Saturday, April 17, 2027 target. It is an editable planning example, not an offered appointment or an AAPC-prescribed study schedule.

  1. Before purchase: confirm membership, any accommodation approval, the voucher window, current rules, and your likely study workload. Keep another target date in mind if inventory or preparation requires a change.
  2. By March 27: complete registration for the illustrative April 17 target under the published three-week instruction. Work earlier if you need more time to resolve account or scheduling issues.
  3. April 5: make a deliberate readiness and logistics check. This date is safely more than ten days before April 17, so it provides room to act within the current free testing-center change period.
  4. Before the final 48 hours: settle your print/eBook choice and check the appointment instructions. AAPC requires the selection at least 48 hours ahead; for this example, April 15 at the same appointment time is exactly that boundary. Finish earlier rather than relying on a last-minute change.

Use the free CPC study plan alongside these administrative dates. To make a readiness check useful, review the types of mistakes you are still making and whether you can complete mixed practice without abandoning the final questions. A broader rehearsal is the purpose of the 100-question mock planned for launch within full CPC prep; a practice result does not guarantee an exam result.

What happens if you need to change the appointment?

AAPC publishes different change windows for remote appointments and testing centers. These terms were checked November 3, 2026; verify them again before a 2027 change.

  • Remote: changes made more than 48 hours before the appointment are free.
  • Testing center: changes more than ten days ahead are free. AAPC lists a $25 fee paid to Meazure Learning for changes between nine days and two days ahead.
  • Too late or missed: the Exam Agreement treats changes less than 48 hours before testing as a no-show with forfeiture. Missing the appointment or failing testing requirements can also forfeit the voucher.

The testing-center table does not clearly define the exact-ten-day boundary. Make a free change earlier than ten days, or obtain clarification from AAPC; do not infer a fee from that gap. Likewise, do not plan a remote change for exactly 48 hours when the free-change wording says more than 48 hours.

A cancellation is not a refund: the Exam Agreement calls exam fees nonrefundable. If an attempt is forfeited, check whether your purchase has another available attempt or whether another voucher is needed. After any successful change, save the updated confirmation and rebuild the calendar around the new appointment.

How do you know your booking is complete?

Use a short final check before closing the scheduling process:

  • You have an appointment confirmation, not only a purchase receipt or redeemed voucher.
  • The date, time, delivery format, and location where relevant match your selection.
  • Your first and last names on the confirmation exactly match your government-issued photo ID.
  • You have saved the instructions and entered earlier reminders for any decisions or changes.

AAPC's testing-center instructions say to print the email confirmation. Follow the current instructions for your chosen format and use the 2027 CPC exam-day checklist for the final preparation details. Revisit the CPC section map to keep the remaining study time tied to what is tested.

With the appointment confirmed, try the 20 free CPC practice questions and identify the topics needing more work. For additional question practice, full CPC prep planned for launch includes 1,100 questions. Keep your booking confirmation and your next study action together so the calendar drives useful preparation.
