ACE Personal Trainer Certification (ACE CPT) retake planner

Rate how each official domain went on your last attempt. You get a retake plan weighted by the official outline, with the domains you found hardest first and a schedule for every week until your retake.

Build my retake plan

Step 1 of 2

Rate how each domain went

Your ACE exam score report (Meazure Learning) shows how you did in each domain. Use it to rate each one below; the planner doesn't need exact scores. So the priorities in your plan come from your own answers, not from an official score.

The 4 official domains

Leave a domain blank if you’re not sure. Blank ones keep their official share with a little extra time; the planner never guesses.

Client Onboarding and Assessments23% of the exam
Program Design and Implementation31% of the exam
Program Modification and Progression27% of the exam
Risk Management, Professional Conduct, and Ethical Business Practices19% of the exam

Step 2 of 2

Add your dates and the time you have

Used only to check the earliest retake date against the official waiting rule.

ACE's pages disagree on the minimum wait after a failed attempt: 4 days on the Personal Trainer exam options page and in the scheduling FAQ, 10 days in the 'did not pass' section of the scheduling page. The planner uses the longer 10 days; confirm with ACE before booking. A discounted $249 retake fee applies for one year from the first attempt; after that the first-time fee applies. No attempt limit is stated for the NCCA exam. ACE Personal Trainer Exam Options; Schedule Your ACE Certification Exam; ACE Certification and Recertification Handbook (revised September 2026), Appendix E

Your answers stay in this browser tab. Passy records only that a plan was built, never your ratings or dates.

How the plan sets your priorities

Your ACE exam score report (Meazure Learning) shows how you did in each domain. Use it to rate each one below; the planner doesn't need exact scores. So the planner asks you instead: the domains you mark as hard start your plan, mixed ones are strengthened, and confident ones get lighter review. Your answers are a self-assessment, not an official result.

Each domain starts from its share of the exam in the official outline, multiplied by its priority: 3× to start, 2× to strengthen, 1.5× if you leave it blank, and 1× to maintain. A quarter of your time is mixed practice across all domains. This is Passy’s planning method; it doesn’t estimate a score or a chance of passing.

  • Conflict on official pages, as checked on October 24, 2026: the Personal Trainer exam options page and the scheduling FAQ say 4 days; the 'did not pass' section of the same scheduling page says 'as soon as 10 days from the first attempt'. The handbook (revised September 2026) states no wait.
  • Booking lead time for live test sites also differs: the scheduling page says to register at least 10 days before the exam date, while the handbook says as early as 3 days before. Live remote proctored exams can be scheduled 24 hours ahead.
  • Retake vouchers included with some study programs must be redeemed within 60 days of the failed exam.
  • ACE suggests about one week of review for every ten points below the passing score of 500.
  • Live-site rescheduling costs $149 and is allowed once.
