How the plan sets your priorities
Your Unofficial score report (ASWBCentral) shows how you did in each content area. Use it to rate each one below; the planner doesn't need exact scores. So the planner asks you instead: the content areas you mark as hard start your plan, mixed ones are strengthened, and confident ones get lighter review. Your answers are a self-assessment, not an official result.
Each content area starts from its share of the exam in the official outline, multiplied by its priority: 3× to start, 2× to strengthen, 1.5× if you leave it blank, and 1× to maintain. A quarter of your time is mixed practice across all content areas. This is Passy’s planning method; it doesn’t estimate a score or a chance of passing.
Retake rules for the ASWB Bachelors
Wait 90 days after an unsuccessful attempt; with board approval you can request a waiver if you scored within 10 correct answers of passing and your board allows it. ASWB sets no attempt limit, but some boards do.
- Waiver: most recent score within 10 correct answers of the passing score (the guidebook says 'within 10 points'), and the board must allow waivers; California and North Dakota do not permit them.
- No more than two waivers in twelve months for any single exam category.
- Request a waiver only after ASWB has the official result (the guidebook says wait 24 hours; the web page says at least one day); do not register until the waiver is granted or denied.
- ASWB advises registering again seven to ten days after the last exam and scheduling a test date at least 90 days after the last attempt unless a waiver applies; the full fee is paid again.
- The whole exam is retaken; content-area scores cannot be combined across attempts.
- If you fail the exam; Request a 90-day waiting period waiver; ASWB Examination Guidebook (08/2026) (ASWB)
