GED Ready Scores Explained: What to Do Next
GED Ready uses three score bands. Green, or likely to pass, is the online-testing gate. Passy practice is not GED Ready.
Short answer
GED Ready is the official practice test, sold per subject, and it is not the GED test. GED.com’s bands are Not Likely to Pass (100–133), Too Close to Call (134–144), and Likely to Pass (145–200). A green, likely-to-pass result in the last 60 days is required before you schedule that subject online. Passy practice does not produce this score and does not satisfy the requirement.
What the three bands mean
GED.com prints the indicator in three bands:
| Band | Range on the GED Ready page | What that page says to do |
|---|---|---|
| Not Likely to Pass | 100–133 | Spend more time preparing, on the skills you still need. |
| Too Close to Call | 134–144 | You are close. A little more practice is the official suggestion. |
| Likely to Pass | 145–200 | You are likely to pass. The page says to schedule. |
The online-testing pages call the likely-to-pass result “green.” You need that green result within 60 days for each subject you want to take online. A green math result does not cover science. A green result from 61 days ago is outside the window the page states.
In-person rules can differ. Washington’s policy page says GED Ready is not required before a test-center exam and is required before the online exam. Check your state. Do not copy Washington if you do not test there.
What GED Ready is not
GED Ready is half the length of the operational test and timed. GED.com recommends one sitting for the most accurate indicator. You get one attempt per purchase, on a computer or laptop, not on a phone. The listed price is $7.99 per subject. Buying it is optional for study. It is not optional if your testing mode requires the green score.
The likely-to-pass band starts at 145, which is also the operational passing score. That similarity is not identity. GED Ready is still a practice indicator. The operational score page is about the real subject tests, including what a score above 165 or above 175 might mean to a college. Those bands are explained in the passing-score guide.
This page explains the indicator. The free practice set is a short Passy sample. Finishing it does not turn green, does not expire in 60 days, and does not unlock an online appointment.
What to do with the band you received
If the band is not likely, or too close, stay with the skills the GED Ready study plan named. Practice that kind of item in Passy only as extra original work. It does not replace another GED Ready purchase, and it does not change the official indicator.
If the band is green and you want to test online, schedule inside the 60-day window and complete the system check. If you want a test center, confirm whether your state requires GED Ready at all. Either way, the appointment is booked on GED.com, not in Passy.
