HESI A2 retake planner

Rate how each official exam went on your last attempt. You get a retake plan weighted by the official outline, with the exams you found hardest first and a schedule for every week until your retake.

Build my retake plan

Step 1 of 2

Rate how each exam went

Your HESI A2 exam scores (percent per exam plus composite) shows how you did in each exam. Use it to rate each one below; the planner doesn't need exact scores. So the priorities in your plan come from your own answers, not from an official score.

The 8 official exams

Leave a exam blank if you’re not sure. Blank ones keep their official share with a little extra time; the planner never guesses.

Reading Comprehension12.5% (even split)

Step 2 of 2

Add your dates and the time you have

Used only to check the earliest retake date against the official waiting rule.

Elsevier publishes no general retake limit: your school decides how many attempts count and how long you wait. A second attempt uses a different A2 version (schools schedule version 1 for first-time and version 2 for second-time testers), and for distance testing Elsevier's support page says to wait 24 hours after an exam before registering again under the same Department ID. How do I register for my HESI Distance Testing exam with my department ID?

Your answers stay in this browser tab. Passy records only that a plan was built, never your ratings or dates.

How the plan sets your priorities

Your HESI A2 exam scores (percent per exam plus composite) shows how you did in each exam. Use it to rate each one below; the planner doesn't need exact scores. So the planner asks you instead: the exams you mark as hard start your plan, mixed ones are strengthened, and confident ones get lighter review. Your answers are a self-assessment, not an official result.

Each exam starts from its share of the exam (the official outline publishes no weights, so the planner uses an even split), multiplied by its priority: 3× to start, 2× to strengthen, 1.5× if you leave it blank, and 1× to maintain. A quarter of your time is mixed practice across all exams. This is Passy’s planning method; it doesn’t estimate a score or a chance of passing.

  • HESI A2 Exam Process Faculty Guide (elsevierresources.com, uploaded 2026/01): the A2 version (version 1/first-time tester or version 2/second-time tester) is selected at scheduling.
  • Evolve Support Center, 'How do I register for my HESI Distance Testing exam with my department ID?' (last updated July 10, 2023): to retake with a different version under the same Department ID, wait 24 hours after completing the exam before registering again. This page predates the 2026 HESI NG guides.
  • Prometric's Elsevier remote-testing page returned 403; any Prometric retake rule is unverified.
