Passed ISC2 CC? Complete Your Certification Application

What to do after passing ISC2 CC: wait for the official result, complete the certification application within nine months, and pay the initial annual maintenance fee after approval.

Short answer

Passing ISC2 CC does not complete certification: after the official passing notification, complete the certification application within nine months of your exam date. CC requires neither work experience nor an endorser. After ISC2 approves the application, pay the initial annual maintenance fee to complete certification; the CC-only fee is U.S. $50, checked November 3, 2026.

Is passing the exam the same as being certified?

Passing ISC2 CC does not, by itself, complete your certification. ISC2 requires you to complete its certification application within nine months of your exam date, then pay the initial annual maintenance fee after the application is approved. These rules were checked November 3, 2026.

Think of the process as separate steps with separate evidence:

  1. Unofficial exam result: the test center gives you an outcome after the exam.
  2. Official passing notification: ISC2 emails your official outcome and the next steps.
  3. Certification application: complete the CC application after that official notification.
  4. Application approval and initial payment: follow ISC2's approval instructions and pay the initial AMF to complete certification.

Keep the result, application correspondence, and payment confirmation together. This is an organizational suggestion, not an additional ISC2 requirement. It helps you identify the last completed step instead of treating the test-center result as proof that every step is finished.

If you are checking this process before your exam, full ISC2 CC prep planned for launch includes 900 questions for foundational practice. Preparation and certification administration are separate tasks; leave room for both in your plan.

When can you start the application, and what is the deadline?

Start after ISC2 sends your official passing notification. The application deadline is within nine months of the exam date, according to ISC2's Apply for Certification page. Do not start counting from the day you open the email or the day you begin filling out the application.

A practical approach is to save the official message and record the exam date alongside the application deadline. Set an earlier personal reminder so that a question about the form does not become a last-minute problem. That reminder is your planning choice; the official requirement remains the nine-month deadline.

The test-center result is unofficial. ISC2's after-exam page says results can exceptionally be delayed approximately six to eight weeks for analysis. That does not establish a normal email turnaround, and it is not an application-processing estimate. Avoid relying on another candidate's timeline as a promise for your own case.

If the official notification is missing or its instructions leave your next step unclear, contact ISC2 about your record. If an official-result delay brings you close to the application deadline, ask ISC2 how to proceed; do not assume the deadline has automatically moved. The ISC2 CC results guide explains the difference between unofficial and official reporting in more detail.

Does CC require an endorser or proof of work experience?

No. ISC2 CC has no work-experience requirement, and the endorser requirement described for other ISC2 certifications does not apply to CC. Its certification application asks about ethics and privacy agreements.

The official application page uses endorsement language because it serves multiple certifications. Follow the CC-specific instructions rather than trying to obtain an experienced colleague's endorsement simply because a general section mentions one. You do not need to postpone the CC application while looking for a cybersecurity job to satisfy an experience requirement.

Read each agreement before accepting it, answer accurately, and review the application before completing it. ISC2 says a percentage of certification applications can be selected for audit. That possibility does not create a CC work-experience requirement; respond to any instructions ISC2 sends about your own application.

Your next step is the CC application itself. Use the official Apply for Certification page and the instructions in your passing notification.

When do you pay the first annual maintenance fee?

Pay the initial AMF after ISC2 approves your application. ISC2's application page places approval before the payment that completes certification. Do not mistake the exam purchase for this later membership payment.

For a member holding only CC, the AMF is U.S. $50 annually, checked November 3, 2026. Taxes may apply by jurisdiction, and the current amount is not a guarantee of a future price. Check the amount shown in your payment instructions before paying. The ISC2 CC exam-cost guide separates the exam charge from the annual fee.

If you already hold another ISC2 certification covered by its full-member fee, the published policy is one U.S. $135 AMF, checked November 3, 2026, rather than a separate fee for every credential. Check your membership record and ISC2's instructions for the amount that applies to you instead of automatically adding another $50.

ISC2 lists online payment methods including credit card, PayPal, and voucher. Mail or wire arrangements require Member Services. Use the method offered for your account and retain the payment confirmation.

Once payment is complete, check that your official certification record reflects completion. If payment and status do not appear to agree, ask ISC2 to clarify your record instead of assuming that another payment is necessary.

What should you check once certification is complete?

Check your certification details and record the certification anniversary. The ongoing AMF is due on that anniversary, according to ISC2's AMF policy, so the exam appointment date is not the date to use automatically for future payment reminders.

Keep initial certification separate from maintenance. The nine-month application deadline concerns becoming certified after the exam; continuing education and later AMFs concern keeping the credential current. Use the CC renewal and CPE guide to plan that next stage rather than assuming the initial payment finishes every future obligation.

For your own learning plan, revisit the five ISC2 CC exam domains and choose a topic you want to understand more deeply. 450 flashcards are planned for launch as part of full ISC2 CC prep if you want to keep vocabulary fresh.

The 20 free ISC2 CC practice questions can give you a small review exercise, and the free ISC2 CC study plan can help organize study sessions. Neither tool establishes your certification status.

For a broader future refresh, full ISC2 CC prep planned for launch is organized around the five domains. Treat these resources as optional study support; no CPE-credit claim is made here.

Finish with one concrete check: confirm the last completed step in your ISC2 record. If you have the official pass but have not completed the application, do that next. If the application is approved, follow the initial AMF instructions. Once certification is complete, record the anniversary and plan for maintenance.
