How to Reschedule or Cancel an NCLEX Appointment

Notice is a business-day clock, not a calendar guess

Changing an NCLEX appointment is allowed, but Pearson requires at least one full business day of notice. A voicemail does not count as notice. If the date is moving, keep the same study block rather than pausing until a new confirmation arrives →. This page is only about the change window. Exam-day ID and security still apply to whatever seat remains.

National holidays can close Pearson offices. Count business days against that calendar, not against a study-group rumor.

Weekday versus weekend-Monday appointments

Official scheduling language splits the clock:

• For exams on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, contact Pearson at least 24 hours before the appointment date and time, local standard time.
• For exams on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, contact Pearson no later than Friday and still at least 24 hours before the appointment time, local standard time.

A Monday 8:00 a.m. seat is not “24 hours before Monday.” It has to be handled on Friday, early enough to clear both the Friday close and the 24-hour timing rule.

Change the appointment on the Pearson website or by speaking with an agent at Pearson Candidate Services. You need a confirmation email that the appointment was unscheduled or rescheduled. A message left on an answering machine does not meet the requirement.

What a late change costs

If you fail to arrive, or fail to reschedule or cancel with the required notice, you forfeit the exam fee. Any international scheduling fee is also forfeited. The ATT is invalidated. You reregister and pay again. NCLEX documents the miss as a case report the NRB can view.

Pearson’s fee page lists the same outcome under refunds: no refund for failure to reschedule or cancel outside 24 business hours, and no refund for failure to appear.

That is why NCLEX exam cost and this page sit next to each other. The second payment is a new registration, not a “late fee” added to the first.

If the ATT is close to expiring, a canceled seat does not stretch the printed dates. ATT validity cannot be extended. Book the next appointment inside the same window if one still exists.

International and accommodation appointments

To change an international appointment, call Pearson Candidate Services. Moving to another international center does not forfeit the international scheduling fee. Moving from international to a domestic center does forfeit that fee.

To change a domestic appointment to an international center, call Pearson. That change adds the non-refundable international scheduling fee and any applicable tax.

Approved testing accommodations are changed by calling the number on the ATT and asking for the NCLEX Accommodations Coordinator. Do not use a generic online cancel flow if the ATT directs you elsewhere.
