How the plan sets your priorities
Your NHA score report shows how you did in each domain. Use it to rate each one below; the planner doesn't need exact scores. So the planner asks you instead: the domains you mark as hard start your plan, mixed ones are strengthened, and confident ones get lighter review. Your answers are a self-assessment, not an official result.
Each domain starts from its share of the exam in the official outline, multiplied by its priority: 3× to start, 2× to strengthen, 1.5× if you leave it blank, and 1× to maintain. A quarter of your time is mixed practice across all domains. This is Passy’s planning method; it doesn’t estimate a score or a chance of passing.
Retake rules for the NHA Phlebotomy
Wait at least 30 days after a failed attempt; up to 3 attempts with at least 30 days between each; after a third failed attempt, wait 1 year before each further attempt. Re-register and pay the full exam price each time.
- The 3-attempt limit is followed by a 1-year wait for each repeated failure, not a permanent bar.
- NHA's Candidate Handbook (updated 06/01/2026), read in an archived copy, gives the same retake rule.
- NHA's update FAQs say a candidate who fails shortly before a new exam version launches retests on the new version (no grace period).
- Rescoring requests within 60 days and appeals within 30 days of the exam date (NHA Candidate Handbook, read in an archived copy).
- NHA Certification Examinations Candidate Bulletin (updated 6/15/2026) (PSI Services LLC)
