CompTIA Security+ retake planner

Rate how each official domain went on your last attempt. You get a retake plan weighted by the official outline, with the domains you found hardest first and a schedule for every week until your retake.

Build my retake plan

Step 1 of 2

Rate how each domain went

Your CompTIA score report shows how you did in each domain. Use it to rate each one below; the planner doesn't need exact scores. So the priorities in your plan come from your own answers, not from an official score.

The 5 official domains

Leave a domain blank if you’re not sure. Blank ones keep their official share with a little extra time; the planner never guesses.

General Security Concepts12% of the exam
Threats, Vulnerabilities, and Mitigations22% of the exam
Security Architecture18% of the exam
Security Operations28% of the exam
Security Program Management and Oversight20% of the exam

Step 2 of 2

Add your dates and the time you have

Used only to check the earliest retake date against the official waiting rule.

No wait between the first and second attempt; wait at least 14 calendar days before the third and every later attempt. You pay the full exam price each time (CompTIA offers no free retests or retake discounts), and you can't retake an exam code you've already passed without CompTIA's consent. Your answers stay in this browser tab. Passy records only that a plan was built, never your ratings or dates.

How the plan sets your priorities

Your CompTIA score report shows how you did in each domain. Use it to rate each one below; the planner doesn't need exact scores. So the planner asks you instead: the domains you mark as hard start your plan, mixed ones are strengthened, and confident ones get lighter review. Your answers are a self-assessment, not an official result.

Each domain starts from its share of the exam in the official outline, multiplied by its priority: 3× to start, 2× to strengthen, 1.5× if you leave it blank, and 1× to maintain. A quarter of your time is mixed practice across all domains. This is Passy’s planning method; it doesn’t estimate a score or a chance of passing.

Retake rules for the Security+

No wait between the first and second attempt; wait at least 14 calendar days before the third and every later attempt. You pay the full exam price each time (CompTIA offers no free retests or retake discounts), and you can't retake an exam code you've already passed without CompTIA's consent.

  • The 14-day wait counts from the date of the last attempt.
  • No attempt limit is stated.
  • A test taken in violation of the policy is invalidated and may lead to a suspension.
