HiSET Registration for 2027: Plan Your Booking Timeline

Register for a 2027 HiSET appointment with a practical sequence for state eligibility, your myHiSET account, accommodations, subtest selection, and booking changes.

Short answer

To register for the HiSET, follow your state's myHiSET account link, enter your name as it appears on your test-day ID, and meet the state's requirements before booking. PSI allows subtests in any order, but accommodations requiring approval must be arranged before scheduling. For a 2027 target, use the current process checked November 3, 2026, then recheck state rules, fees, and available appointments before paying.

Is there one HiSET test calendar for 2027?

To register for the HiSET, PSI directs you through your state's myHiSET account link, where you create an account with a name matching your test-day ID. Its Test Taker Bulletin allows subtests in any order, with available appointments determining which combinations you can schedule.

Start with your state's requirements and actual appointment availability. The sources checked November 3, 2026 do not establish a national 2027 test calendar or guarantee a seat on a particular date. The bulletin inspected for this guide is labeled 2026; the planning example below is for a candidate choosing an April 2027 target, not an announced exam date.

Use the official state directory to open your jurisdiction's page and read its current notices. A directory listing alone is not enough to confirm current testing options. If you are still deciding which exam to pursue, the HiSET vs GED comparison explains why state availability comes first. Confirm that choice before arranging a HiSET appointment.

What must be finished before you create a booking?

PSI's Get Started guidance says eligibility requirements differ by state. Your checklist may include age, residency, school withdrawal, adult education, and an Official Practice Test, often called an OPT. Do not assume a requirement in another state applies to you, or that an online practice quiz satisfies an official pretest requirement.

Before paying, establish the following:

  • Eligibility: identify any required approval, program enrollment, or pretest and how your state wants it documented.
  • Identity: compare your account name with the ID you intend to use, and confirm that ID meets your state and appointment rules.
  • Delivery option: confirm that your intended center or remote format is currently available to you.
  • Accommodations: identify whether the support you need requires approval before scheduling.
  • Cost: check the applicable fee and any state conditions for assistance before checkout.

The HiSET eligibility checklist helps organize the first step. The 2027 HiSET budget guide separates current fee examples from amounts you still need to verify for your appointment.

For accommodations requiring approval, create your myHiSET account first, then use the online PSI request process. PSI says approval must come before scheduling; requests cannot be submitted by phone. The approval email explains how to arrange the appointment, and the bulletin directs accommodated scheduling through the PSI accommodations team. No guaranteed review turnaround was verified, so do not treat a hoped-for approval date as a booking commitment.

While those administrative steps are underway, full HiSET prep planned for launch covers the five subtests. Keep preparation moving while you establish which appointments you are eligible to book.

How do you create or reconnect your myHiSET account?

Follow the official account instructions through the link for your state. As checked November 3, 2026, the process includes these steps:

  1. Select your jurisdiction in the state directory and follow its myHiSET Login link.
  2. Choose the account-creation route and review the state requirements presented.
  3. Enter your name to match the ID you will present on test day.
  4. Complete the email or mobile verification and password setup shown in the account flow.
  5. Retain the confirmation and check that you can access the account again.

If you previously had an ETS account, PSI's instructions say to use the same last name and email address to link historical records. If those details no longer fit your situation, resolve the account issue before making another profile. A second account is not a way around eligibility or missing records.

Treat account access and exam registration as separate checklist items: after creating the account, you still need to meet the requirements and arrange the appointment. Keep your login details accessible so you can review the booking later.

How do you choose dates, subtests and delivery mode?

The current bulletin, checked November 3, 2026, permits you to schedule subtests in any order. Same-day combinations depend on availability. Start with the subtest you are prepared to take, then inspect the available dates and delivery options; do not build your entire plan around an unconfirmed opening.

For paper or computer testing at a center, PSI says availability depends on the center. Remote eligibility and availability also depend on your jurisdiction, so verify the current state notice before choosing that route. Under the inspected bulletin, remote bookings require at least 24 hours' advance scheduling. That is a minimum booking rule, not a promise that your preferred time will be available.

Before selecting several subtests together, review what is on the HiSET test for the separate subjects and clocks. Think through travel, work, and the amount of testing you can reasonably handle at that appointment. Booking one subject first is an editorial planning option, not a PSI requirement.

Use the 20 free HiSET practice questions to identify skills to review, then use your state's required readiness process where applicable. The 1,150 questions in full HiSET prep planned for launch provide a larger planned question collection across the five subtests.

How far ahead should a 2027 candidate organize paperwork?

Suppose you choose April 26, 2027 as your target for a first subtest. The dates below are Passy's suggested administrative checkpoints. They are not official deadlines, approval estimates, or evidence of an available appointment.

  1. March 15, about six weeks before: read current state rules, check your ID, recover or create your account, and identify any required program, OPT, or accommodation approval. If a prerequisite is unfinished, make that your next action. Begin earlier when your circumstances require it.
  2. April 12, about two weeks before: review what is actually complete. If you are eligible and prepared, inspect appointments and current fees. If accommodation approval is required, follow the approved scheduling route. Move the target if prerequisites or availability do not support it.
  3. When you book: recheck the current state page and bulletin. Verify the subtest, delivery mode, date, time, location where applicable, and cost before confirming. Save the appointment confirmation.
  4. April 23, several days before the example target: reread the actual confirmation. PSI says it identifies the subtest, start time, length, location, ID requirements, and cancellation rules. Resolve any discrepancy while there is still time to act.

Shift these checkpoints if you choose another date. A six-week buffer cannot establish how long a program or accommodation request will take. Likewise, reaching the two-week checkpoint does not establish readiness. Use the free HiSET study plan to organize the study work separately from this registration checklist.

Once you know which subject comes first, the 500 flashcards in full HiSET prep planned for launch offer another planned resource for review. Keep your booking decision tied to completed requirements and preparation.

What happens if you need to change the appointment?

The Test Taker Bulletin, checked November 3, 2026, says to cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before the appointment to avoid forfeiture. A voicemail does not complete that process. Recheck the current bulletin, state instructions, and your confirmation for the rules applying to your 2027 booking, and act earlier than the boundary.

As a practical safeguard, complete the change through the authorized route and retain its confirmation. If you have approved accommodations, use the scheduling instructions supplied with that approval. Do not assume that leaving a message, editing a personal calendar, or deciding not to attend changes the booking.

Your next step is to open your state page and write down the first unfinished requirement. Complete that step, confirm your account access, and only then choose an appointment supported by your eligibility, preparation, and the available schedule.
