ISC2 CC Exam Day: ID, Arrival, Breaks, and Check-In

Prepare the right identification, resolve name mismatches, and know what happens at ISC2 CC check-in, during breaks, and if a technical problem occurs.

Short answer

For ISC2 CC exam day, normally bring two original, valid IDs: a primary ID with a photo and signature and a secondary ID with a signature, following ISC2's accepted-ID list and jurisdiction-specific exceptions. Your first and last names must match your registration, and ISC2 says to arrive at least 30 minutes early. The exam is delivered at a test center; unscheduled breaks use exam time, and finalized answers cannot be reviewed or changed.

Which IDs should you prepare?

For ISC2 CC exam day, normally bring two original, valid IDs: a primary ID with a photo and signature and a secondary ID with a signature, as specified by ISC2's exam-day policy. Your first and last names must match your registration, and you should arrive at least 30 minutes before the appointment.

These rules were checked November 3, 2026. Use the official ISC2 exam-day page to confirm the accepted documents for your testing location before you travel. The list includes jurisdiction-specific exceptions, so a generic instruction to bring “any two government IDs” is not a reliable substitute.

If you will be 16 or 17 on the test date, ISC2's exam-day policy sets a separate procedure that includes an accompanying parent or guardian and valid photo IDs; start with the ISC2 CC eligibility guide rather than relying on the standard two-ID rule here.

Make the ID check a separate task from packing your bag:

  1. Find the two physical documents. Confirm that each is original and valid for your appointment date.
  2. Check their required features. Compare the primary document's photo and signature and the secondary document's signature against the official list and its exceptions.
  3. Compare the names with the booking. Check both the first and last name rather than relying on a familiar account nickname.
  4. Resolve uncertainty before traveling. If a document or name does not clearly meet the rule, contact ISC2 before test day.

Failing the ID requirements can mean forfeiting the exam fee. Our ISC2 CC exam cost guide explains the separate exam and certification costs; this checklist is about protecting the appointment you already have.

What should you fix before the last 48 hours?

ISC2's exam-day policy, checked November 3, 2026, allows name updates until 48 hours before the appointment. If a mismatch remains closer to the test, its instructions direct you to reschedule, but ISC2's Candidate Information Bulletin, also checked November 3, 2026, says rescheduling is not possible within 24 hours of the appointment. Once you are inside those final 24 hours, contact ISC2/Pearson immediately for guidance rather than assuming an exception is available. Do the comparison during the preceding week so that a correctable account detail does not become a last-minute admission problem.

Also confirm that you have an appointment. Buying an exam or holding a code does not complete booking. ISC2's registration process ends at Pearson, and the appointment should appear in both dashboards. Compare the date, time and test-center location shown in your confirmation with your travel plan.

Use this suggested last-week checklist:

  • Confirm the appointment in the ISC2 and Pearson accounts.
  • Compare the registered first and last names with your selected IDs.
  • Read the current ID list and screening instructions for your situation.
  • Plan the journey around arriving at least 30 minutes early, with your own extra allowance for travel uncertainty.
  • If you need a medical or religious exception to screening, ISC2's exam-day page requires advance contact. Follow that page's instructions and resolve the exception before check-in.

For an unresolved booking issue, use the ISC2 CC rescheduling and cancellation guide. Candidates who need an adjustment to testing conditions should use the separate ISC2 CC accommodations guide before relying on a test-day request.

Keep any remaining content review separate from these administrative tasks. For short recall sessions, full ISC2 CC prep planned for launch includes 450 flashcards. An ID problem needs an administrative solution even when your preparation is otherwise complete.

Can you take the ISC2 CC exam online?

No. ISC2's FAQ, checked November 6, 2026, says the entry-level CC exam is “only available in-person at ISC2-authorized Pearson test centers” and answers the online-testing question with “Not at this time.” A separate ISC2 FAQ on online proctored pilots, which does not name CC, says ISC2 “has concluded that online proctored exams do not satisfy its standards for security and integrity for exam administration”; it says more pilots may follow but gives no future date.

What happens when you arrive at the center?

ISC2 CC uses Pearson Professional Centers and authorized Pearson Select centers. Plan to attend your booked center; the current CC delivery described by ISC2 is center based.

Check-in includes a photograph, signature and palm-vein scan, except where the scan is legally prohibited. Electronics must be stored before screening. Follow staff directions and raise any previously arranged exception before the relevant screening step.

The admission process also includes a nondisclosure agreement. ISC2 requires acceptance within three minutes. Read the current candidate instructions beforehand so that the requirement is familiar, then read and follow the agreement presented at the center.

A practical morning sequence is:

  1. Take the two IDs you checked earlier.
  2. Recheck the confirmed center and appointment time before leaving.
  3. Arrive at least 30 minutes early and report for check-in.
  4. Store electronics and complete the identity and screening steps as directed.
  5. Read the on-screen instructions and accept the required agreement within its allowed time.

Do not count on a grace period for arriving late. If travel goes wrong, contact the testing provider promptly and ask what to do; admission should not be assumed. A no-show forfeits the fee under ISC2's published rules.

What are the rules for notes, devices and breaks?

The center supplies a note board. Use the material supplied and ask staff about its use; do not plan your working method around access to your own electronics during testing.

The CC computerized adaptive exam has a two-hour limit and 100–125 items, under the rules checked November 3, 2026. Once you finalize an answer, you cannot review or change it. A strategy that depends on marking difficult questions and returning to them later will therefore not fit this exam.

Unscheduled breaks require staff permission and consume exam time. If you need one, ask staff and follow the procedure. The practical point for pacing is that taking a break does not pause the clock.

Rehearse a simple decision routine before the appointment: read the question, identify what it asks, compare the choices, and finalize your answer when you are ready to move on. Try the 20 free ISC2 CC practice questions with that routine. This is an editorial practice method, not an official readiness threshold.

For a longer rehearsal, full ISC2 CC prep planned for launch includes a 125-question mock exam. Its fixed question count can support a practice session, but it does not reproduce ISC2's adaptive decisions. Use the ISC2 CC domains and format guide if you need the broader content map before choosing what to review.

What should you do if the workstation or check-in goes wrong?

Tell the test-center staff promptly when a technical issue interferes with testing. Describe the problem clearly and follow their instructions; do not try to solve a workstation fault by changing equipment or leaving your seat without direction.

ISC2's exam-day policy, checked November 3, 2026, provides for a no-fee reschedule when a technical delay exceeds 30 minutes under its stated conditions. A brief interruption does not automatically qualify. Ask staff how your incident is being handled and what next step applies before you leave.

Keep technical problems separate from admission problems. A name mismatch, unacceptable ID or no-show is not the same as a qualifying equipment delay. For an ID issue, point staff to the documents and booking details you have, but do not assume they can waive the published requirement.

The evening before the exam, finish with three checks:

  • Documents: the selected IDs are ready and match the registration. If they do not, contact ISC2/Pearson immediately, because rescheduling is not possible within 24 hours of the appointment.
  • Journey: the center, time and early-arrival plan are confirmed.
  • Procedure: you understand the agreement, note board, one-way answers and running clock during breaks.

If the final review reveals a content gap, use the free ISC2 CC study plan to organize the work still needed. For broader question practice, full ISC2 CC prep planned for launch includes 900 questions across the five domains. Finish the logistics checklist first, then give your remaining study time a specific purpose.
