Can You Take the ATI TEAS at Home? Remote Options and Requirements

Yes, if your program accepts a remote TEAS

You can take the ATI TEAS at home, but a remote seat only helps if the school you are applying to will use the score. ATI's registration help says each school sets the formats it accepts, some accept only in-person exams, and ATI does not refund an exam your school will not accept. Ask the program first, then pick one of ATI's three remote routes. Where to take the ATI TEAS compares them with campus and PSI test-center seats.

ATI says a TEAS at PSI remote seat costs the same as a PSI test-center seat. Your school still decides whether it accepts either one.

ATI TEAS technical requirements for each route

TEAS at ATI. You can use a Windows or Mac computer or an iPad, and you test in Respondus LockDown Browser, which needs administrator rights to install. Chromebooks are not supported for this remote exam, and ATI's technical requirements page lists TEAS at ATI proctored exams among the products not supported on Android tablets. ATI's system requirements article adds:

• a webcam, internal or external, with at least 320 × 240 VGA resolution
• a microphone, internal or external
• an internet connection of at least 5 Mbps, ideally 10 Mbps or more
• at least 4 GB of available RAM while LockDown Browser runs with the webcam
• 200 MB of free disk space

Check the current operating system and browser versions on ATI's technical requirements page before you pay. ATI says problems with your computer or internet are not a valid reason for a refund or a free reschedule.

TEAS at PSI remote. ATI's PSI articles call for a 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 PC or a recent Mac, at least 8 GB of memory, a webcam, built-in speakers and microphone, and upload and download speeds of 3 Mbps or faster. The macOS cutoff in ATI's article differs from the one on PSI's own requirements page, so trust PSI's compatibility check over either list. Phones, tablets, Chromebooks, and virtual machines cannot be used. Windows S Mode, Education, and Enterprise editions are not supported, and a VPN or corporate firewall has to be off. Install PSI's Secure Browser before exam day; it also needs administrator rights.

TEAS Online at Institution. For the Proctorio setup most schools use, ATI lists a PC or Mac (not a phone or tablet), the latest Google Chrome with JavaScript and cookies on and the pop-up blocker off, a webcam with at least 320 × 240 resolution, a microphone, and an internet speed of at least 0.5–1 Mbps. If your school uses Respondus instead, follow ATI's Respondus quickstart for school-proctored exams and the school's own instructions.

The ATI TEAS dry run and the PSI system check

ATI describes its dry run as a free mock exam. For TEAS at ATI, open the Remote Proctoring Dry Run card under MY ATI › Assessments and do it on the same device, in the same room, that you will use on test day. It installs Respondus LockDown Browser and runs the nine pre-checks you will see again on exam day: terms of use, webcam check, additional instructions, guidelines and tips, student photo, photo of your ID, environment check, facial detection check, and begin exam.

For TEAS Online at Institution, ATI tells you to complete the TEAS Dry Run before the proctored exam, in Proctorio or Respondus depending on the school. For TEAS at PSI remote, ATI points you to PSI's online proctoring compatibility check instead. Run it on the computer and network you plan to use, before you choose the remote option.

A dry run checks the setup, not what you know. Once it passes, reviewing one ATI TEAS section is a separate study task. Practice one ATI TEAS section in Passy → after the official dry run, not instead of it.

ID rules for a remote TEAS

ATI requires a physical, current, government-issued photo ID, and the first and last name on it must match the name on your ATI account. Photocopies and photos of an ID on a phone are not accepted, and neither are school or work IDs. ATI's accepted IDs for TEAS at ATI are:

• a driver's license issued in the U.S. or a U.S. territory
• a non-driver photo ID
• a tribal card
• a U.S. passport or passport card
• a U.S. military or military dependent ID
• a U.S. permanent resident card
• a U.S. visa
• a passport issued by a foreign government

During the TEAS at ATI pre-checks you photograph your ID, and ATI names a missing ID photo as a common reason an exam is stopped or flagged. If the ID does not meet the rules, ATI says the proctor stops the exam, its no-refund, no-retest policy applies, and you have to buy a new exam. For TEAS at PSI, the name you schedule under must match your government photo ID exactly. A school-proctored exam can add its own check-in steps, so resolve a name mismatch before test day. Room, desk, and break rules at home

ATI's room rules for a remote TEAS:

• test alone in a quiet, private room that no one will enter, never in a car, coffee shop, open library area, or other public space
• sit at a table or desk with a plain wall behind you, not with your back to a window or open doorway, with even light on your face
• keep only your computer, your ID, one blank 8.5 × 11-inch sheet of paper or a small desktop dry-erase whiteboard, and two writing instruments on the desk, and destroy the paper when you finish
• leave out drinks (water included), food, tissues, phones, smartwatches, and smart glasses
• use the on-screen drop-down calculator, because personal calculators are not allowed
• wear headphones only if ATI's proctor team has an approved accommodation on file

ATI's break FAQ describes one optional 10-minute break, after the Math section. On a remote exam, leave the camera on with your testing area in view and be back within 10 minutes. Leaving the camera view at any other time is recorded and can be flagged. Other ATI pages describe this break less consistently, so follow the proctor's instructions before you leave your seat. For TEAS at PSI remote, expect a full 360° room scan, keep the camera and microphone on for the whole exam, and do not use a headset or earbuds.

Check-in timing for TEAS at ATI

ATI recommends signing in at least 30 minutes before you plan to start, because the pre-checks take time. That recommendation is not a 30-minute grace period after a scheduled start. On a TEAS at ATI exam date you may begin any time during that day's testing hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. CT on Mondays, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. CT Tuesday through Friday, and 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CT on Saturdays. If you are not past the pre-checks and on the first Reading item by the cutoff, ATI says you are denied for being late, with no refund or reschedule. If you are stuck as the cutoff approaches, call the proctor line, 1-844-956-2790, before the cutoff. ATI says the team may allow 5–10 extra minutes. A school-proctored or PSI remote exam follows the time on its own appointment confirmation.

When the technology fails

• TEAS at ATI: exit the exam and call ATI's proctor line, 1-844-956-2790, which is open during exam hours only. ATI says answers are saved as you go.
• TEAS at PSI remote: contact PSI, not ATI. PSI's remote testing line is 844-267-1017, and the number also appears inside the exam. ATI's proctor line handles TEAS at ATI exams only.
• TEAS Online at Institution: use the contact in your school's instructions.

Note the time and the message on screen, but do not pick up a phone inside the testing space unless the proctor directs you to. Because ATI does not treat your own computer or internet problems as grounds for a refund or a free reschedule, a failed check the night before costs far less than a failed check at sign-in.
