How Long Are ATI TEAS Scores Good For?

Two years is ATI’s usual figure, not every school’s rule

ATI says TEAS scores are usually valid for two years, then immediately notes that each school can set a shorter window. Read the program’s current admissions page before you treat a 23-month-old score as safe, then plan any retake around that deadline with the study plan in the Passy ATI TEAS prep app → rather than around a forum average. ATI’s own exceptions:

1. Schools set admissions criteria. On average the window is two years, “but that is not across the board.”
2. In years when ATI changes the TEAS test blueprint, schools may shorten the window to one year or less.

Version 7 is still the current exam described in Passy’s library. That does not freeze every school’s acceptance clock at 24 months.

What to confirm in writing

For each program, capture:

• the exam version they will accept
• the oldest test date they will accept for your start term
• whether a remote administration ages out faster (only if they say so)
• whether they require the score by the application deadline or by orientation

If you are applying to three schools, you need three answers. The strictest window is the one that forces a retake.

Passing score and what is a good TEAS score are also school-set. A still-valid score can be too low. A high score can be too old.

Do not convert classmates’ stories

“My school took a three-year-old TEAS” is that school’s old policy, or a misunderstanding of unofficial versus official transcripts. ATI TEAS Version 4 scores cannot be sent to other schools at all.

Sending a transcript does not extend validity. It only delivers the existing test date.

If the score will expire mid-cycle

Test early enough that the official result still falls inside every program’s window on the day they review files. Do not schedule so late that a reschedule (48 hours, $15) pushes you past a deadline.
