Booking CEH for 2027: From Eligibility Approval to Test Date
Plan a 2027 CEH booking in the right order: eligibility approval, voucher selection, any accommodation request, and an available appointment. Includes a worked March timeline.
Short answer
For the self-study route, EC-Council requires an eligibility application and approval before you purchase a CEH exam voucher. Pearson VUE also requires an eligibility number to schedule and take the exam, and appointments depend on availability. For a 2027 target, plan backward from your desired date while tracking approval, voucher expiration, and any accommodation request separately; these are current rules checked November 3, 2026, so verify them again before payment.
What must happen before you can book CEH?
For the self-study route, EC-Council requires eligibility approval before you purchase a CEH exam voucher. Pearson VUE requires an eligibility number to schedule and sit the exam, with appointments subject to availability. Those requirements, checked November 3, 2026, give a 2027 candidate an order to follow, but they do not guarantee a particular test date.
Start with the route that applies to you:
- Resolve eligibility. EC-Council accepts qualifying official training or the self-study route based on two years of information-security work experience. Use the CEH cost and eligibility guide to compare those routes before arranging a date.
- Check whether accommodations affect your registration timeline. If you need them, start the request before registering; the advance-submission rule is explained below.
- Complete the required approval process. Self-study candidates submit the eligibility application and wait for approval. EC-Council then supplies further instructions.
- Select the correct voucher and delivery route. If you bought official training, confirm whether the package already includes a voucher before purchasing another.
- Book an available appointment through the appropriate provider. Keep the confirmation alongside your approval and voucher details.
Treat a desired test date as a planning target until the appointment is confirmed. Your next action is to identify which of these steps is still unresolved.
Which approval and voucher dates should you track?
Keep three separate entries in your calendar: eligibility approval, voucher expiration, and the booked appointment. EC-Council's current FAQ says approval lasts three months. Its application-processing estimate averages 5–10 working days after verifier responses, so counting from the day you submit can give you the wrong expectation. Both statements were checked November 3, 2026.
Record the approval date and applicable deadline from your instructions. If the remaining approval window does not fit your plans, ask EC-Council what you must do before proceeding. Do not infer that a later voucher expiration also extends eligibility approval.
For the voucher, use its actual expiration date. The certification FAQ describes one-year validity from receipt, while the voucher policy measures the maximum initial year from purchase. That difference is a reason to verify your voucher's own deadline. The CEH voucher expiration and extension guide covers the separate extension question.
Keep studying while administrative steps are pending, but base your study calendar on a date you can adjust. For broader practice during that period, full CEH prep planned for launch includes 1,800 questions.
Before leaving this step, write down which date is confirmed, which is provisional, and whose response you still need.
How should you work backward from a March 2027 target?
Suppose you would like to take CEH on March 15, 2027, with a provisional registration target of March 1. The dates below are an editorial planning example, not an official CEH testing window or an estimate of appointment availability. They use rules checked November 3, 2026; recheck those rules before acting in 2027.
- Before January 29: confirm your eligibility route and whether you need accommodations. Gather the information required for your route and check any training package for an included voucher.
- January 29, if requesting accommodations: use this as an earlier submission target for a March 1 registration. Thirty days before March 1 is January 30; January 29 gives a small planning margin. Neither date guarantees approval or a suitable appointment.
- During February: resolve eligibility review and any outstanding verifier responses. Once approved, read the instructions and record the approval deadline. The 5–10-working-day estimate does not make any specific February completion date certain.
- Before the intended March 1 registration: recheck current eligibility instructions, prices, the applicable CEH blueprint, delivery options, and any accommodation decision. Buy the correct voucher only after the required approval steps, then use the applicable booking process.
- March 15: take this date only if an appointment is available and confirmed, the relevant requirements are satisfied, and your preparation supports it. Otherwise, revise the target and recheck your deadlines.
The useful part of this example is the sequence. If approval is still outstanding on March 1, do not treat the calendar as permission to skip it. If you need more study time, revisit the voucher and approval dates before committing to a later appointment.
Use the free CEH study plan to organize preparation around your provisional date. Check the CEH blueprint guide for the content you need to cover; full CEH prep planned for launch is organized across nine domains.
How do you choose the correct booking channel?
EC-Council currently lists an online-proctoring route and a Pearson VUE test-center route. Decide which you intend to use before buying, and follow the instructions for that route. These options were checked November 3, 2026; verify the current offering when arranging your 2027 exam.
For Pearson VUE, have the required eligibility number ready. Pearson's EC-Council page says appointments may be made in advance or on the desired test day, subject to availability. Same-day booking is a possibility under that rule, not a sound assumption for a fixed deadline.
For online delivery, obtain the current CEH booking and session instructions before choosing a date. Confirm the requirements that apply to your device, identification, and testing space with the provider. Use the CEH online versus test-center guide for the delivery decision.
Once you select a channel, keep its instructions with the voucher. If you need to change an appointment, check that provider's current terms before making the change; do not assume the voucher deadline also describes cancellation or rescheduling rules.
What changes if you need accommodations?
EC-Council's Special Accommodation Policy, checked November 3, 2026, requires submission at least 30 days before registering for the exam. Count backward from registration, not just from the test appointment. That is why the March example starts this branch in January.
The candidate completes and signs section 1 of the request. A legally approved healthcare expert, practitioner, or professional completes and signs section 2 to document the need. EC-Council evaluates requests individually and says it provides a decision within 14 days, along with suitable center details.
The response timeframe does not replace the 30-day submission requirement or guarantee a particular requested adjustment. Keep the decision and any booking instructions together, then check that the proposed appointment matches them.
Use the CEH exam accommodations guide to prepare the request. If the registration date changes, check the revised timeline against the policy before proceeding.
What should you verify before you pay?
Review the current official instructions once more at the point of purchase. A guide checked in November 2026 cannot establish the fees, policies, blueprint, or appointment inventory that will apply to your own 2027 booking.
Your final checklist should answer these questions:
- Is my eligibility route complete, and do my approval instructions still permit the next step?
- Does my training package already include the voucher I need?
- Does the voucher match my chosen delivery route, and have I confirmed its expiration?
- If I requested accommodations, do I have the decision and applicable booking instructions?
- Have I read the provider's current session, rescheduling, and cancellation terms?
- Is my test date confirmed, and does my study plan still fit it?
Before committing to the date, try the 20 free CEH practice questions to identify topics that need more work. For a longer practice set, full CEH prep planned for launch includes a 125-question mock exam.
Your next step is the first unanswered item on that checklist. Complete it, save the relevant confirmation, and then move to the next booking step.
