The 2026 guidebook, written for exams administered beginning August 3, 2026, organizes every Social Work Licensing Exam into three broad areas, then competencies, then applied knowledge statements. II. Assessment and Planning (32%). Assessment concepts, methods, and practices. Trauma, risk of harm, interviewing, the mental status exam, use of the DSM, medication side effects as an assessment topic, and how a plan chooses a modality. Assessment and planning is that area, not a DSM chapter.

III. Intervention and Practice (32%). Practice concepts, intervention methods, evaluation and research, and supervision and administration. Crisis intervention, evidence-based methods, case management, groups, and the supervisee’s role are listed. Intervention and practice keeps the list usable.

What the outline does not include
