NAPLEX Score Transfer: Fees, Deadlines, and Licensing Steps

Learn when to purchase a NAPLEX score transfer, what each additional jurisdiction costs, and which licensing decisions still belong to the boards.

Short answer

A NAPLEX score transfer sends your exam result to an additional licensing jurisdiction for $105 per jurisdiction, under NABP's rules checked November 3, 2026. You can purchase it when buying the exam, before testing, or up to 89 days after taking the exam. The receiving board still decides whether you meet its licensing requirements; sending a result does not issue a pharmacist license.

How does a NAPLEX score transfer work?

A NAPLEX score transfer sends your exam result to an additional licensing jurisdiction for $105 per jurisdiction, according to NABP's candidate bulletin. You can purchase it with the exam, before testing, or up to 89 days after taking the exam, under the rules checked November 3, 2026.

All 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico participate in the program. Participation does not mean that every board has identical licensing requirements or accepts a transferred result for the same length of time.

Use this sequence to keep the exam transaction and the licensing application connected:

  1. Check the boards first. Identify your primary jurisdiction and each additional jurisdiction you are considering.
  2. Confirm the correct route. Ask each receiving board what it requires from a score-transfer candidate.
  3. Choose destinations and purchase within the window. Check the selected jurisdictions before submitting payment.
  4. Complete the licensing requirements. Include the requirements of your primary jurisdiction as well as those of each receiving board.
  5. Confirm the outcome with the board. Verify receipt of the result and your licensing status separately.

If you have not yet arranged your original exam, the NAPLEX registration and ATT guide covers that application and booking sequence.

What is the deadline and how much does each transfer cost?

NABP permits purchase up to 89 days after the exam date, checked November 3, 2026. That window runs from taking the exam, so do not start counting from the day you see your result.

NABP advises acting early because purchase availability can end on the last day. Set your own reminder well before the limit, and check the current purchase terms before paying. Do not build your plan around completing the transaction on day 89 or receiving an extension.

The transfer-only budget is straightforward:

Additional jurisdictionsCalculationTransfer fees
One1 × $105$105
Two2 × $105$210
Three3 × $105$315

These examples use the NABP fee schedule checked November 3, 2026. They cover additional destinations for one exam attempt, not the total price of licensure. State application charges and other requirements need their own budget; the NAPLEX cost and fees guide separates the exam charges from optional costs.

For a candidate considering two additional boards, the useful first question is whether both routes fit the plan. Resolve that before treating $210 as a necessary expense. If you are still preparing for the examination, full NAPLEX prep planned for launch includes 825 questions for additional practice.

Is score transfer the same as transferring a pharmacist license?

No. Score transfer sends an exam result. NABP's electronic licensure transfer program, eLTP, is a different route for pharmacists already licensed in another jurisdiction.

Your current status determines which conversation to have with the receiving board:

  • You are pursuing initial licensure and want your NAPLEX result sent elsewhere: ask about the board's score-transfer requirements and deadlines.
  • You already hold a pharmacist license elsewhere: ask whether the board directs you to the eLTP route and what additional requirements apply.
  • You are unsure which description fits: explain your actual exam and license status to the board before purchasing a service.

An e-Profile result page is also different from a score transfer. NABP says a screenshot of that result is not a score-transfer or licensing document, and only a board can issue the license. The NAPLEX passing-score and results guide explains the candidate result separately.

NAPLEX score transfer does not transfer an MPJE result. Confirm any separate law-examination requirement with the intended board rather than assuming this purchase handles it.

What should you check with each board before buying?

A destination's participation answers whether the program operates there. It does not settle your personal eligibility, the remaining application steps, or how long that board will accept the result.

Use this worksheet for each intended jurisdiction. It is a planning aid, not an official application checklist.

Question to resolveWhat to record
Is score transfer the appropriate route for my status? The board's instructions for your situation
How long will this board accept the transferred result? Its applicable validity rule and any deadline
What application and other requirements remain? The board's required steps, charges, and supporting documents
What must I complete in my primary jurisdiction?Outstanding requirements and how completion is confirmed
How do I verify receipt and eventual licensure? The board's stated method and contact details

The primary-jurisdiction check matters: NABP's score-transfer rules say those requirements must be completed, and a board may refuse a transfer if they are not. Adding a destination does not let you disregard the original jurisdiction's requirements.

Can you change, cancel, or reuse a score transfer?

The answer depends on whether you have taken the exam and whether the original exam application is canceled. NABP's rules, checked November 3, 2026, distinguish these situations:

SituationNABP's rule
Change a transfer destination before testingRequest the change from NABP; there is no additional charge
Change a transfer destination after testingDestination changes are not allowed
Cancel the exam application after buying transfers before the examThose pre-exam transfers are refunded
Purchase a transfer after taking the examThe purchase is nonrefundable
Fail the exam attemptPurchased transfers still process
Take another exam attemptPurchase another transfer for that attempt

A transfer is not held until a passing attempt. NABP processes it whether you pass or fail, so a later attempt needs its own purchase. Likewise, the refund provision for a canceled exam application is not a general promise that you can cancel an unwanted destination after testing.

Before submitting payment, check the attempt and destinations carefully. If your plans change before testing, contact NABP about the permitted destination-change process.

What should you do after NABP sends the result?

Confirm with each receiving board that it has the result and identify any remaining requirements. Keep three separate entries in your own records: transfer purchased, result received by the board, and license issued. A payment confirmation or passing result does not establish all three.

If you are still preparing or arranging another attempt, use what is on the NAPLEX to review the content outline and try the 20 free NAPLEX practice questions. For a longer practice session, full NAPLEX prep planned for launch includes a 225-question mock exam.

Your next administrative step is to name each intended board, record its requirements, and verify the current transfer purchase window. After the transaction, follow through with the board until the licensing decision is confirmed.
