How the plan sets your priorities
Your ServSafe exam score (Check Your Exam Score, online account) shows how you did in each food-safety area. Use it to rate each one below; the planner doesn't need exact scores. So the planner asks you instead: the food-safety areas you mark as hard start your plan, mixed ones are strengthened, and confident ones get lighter review. Your answers are a self-assessment, not an official result.
Each food-safety area starts from its share of the exam (the official outline publishes no weights, so the planner uses an even split), multiplied by its priority: 3× to start, 2× to strengthen, 1.5× if you leave it blank, and 1× to maintain. A quarter of your time is mixed practice across all food-safety areas. This is Passy’s planning method; it doesn’t estimate a score or a chance of passing.
Retake rules for the ServSafe Manager
You can take the exam twice within 30 days with no wait. A third attempt needs at least 60 days after the last attempt, and no more than four attempts are allowed in 12 months. Each retest needs a new exam answer sheet (print) or exam access code (online) and a Registered ServSafe Proctor.
- maxAttempts is per 12-month period.
- ServSafe's example: 1st attempt June 1, 2nd June 2, 3rd August 2 (after the 60-day wait), 4th October 2.
- Retesting is also allowed when a current certification is expiring.
