HESI A2 guideRegistration & test day

How to Register for the HESI A2

HESI A2 registration follows the pathway your program uses: Evolve course access, a school testing center, Prometric, or a remote vendor. There is not one universal signup.

Short answer

You register for the HESI A2 through the process your nursing or healthcare program currently publishes. Common pathways include redeeming an Evolve course ID, scheduling in a school testing center, scheduling with Prometric (center or ProProctor), or using another remote vendor the program named. Elsevier student instructions start with an Evolve account because that identity is also used for results. Do not pay a third-party listing until the school’s instructions match it.

Follow the school’s pathway, then keep one Evolve identity

HESI A2 registration is not a single national form. Programs issue a Course ID, a Prometric eligibility process, a campus-lab appointment, or a remote-vendor link. Create or reuse one Evolve account first—Elsevier’s student PDFs say those credentials are required to access the exam, results, and remediation—then plan HESI A2 study around the date that pathway actually gives you in Passy.

Pathway A — Evolve course registration

Elsevier’s A2/ALC student registration instructions describe a unique registration link, Evolve sign-in, a HESI NG homepage, and a Register button with a time slot. A compatibility or secure-browser check may sit in the course menu. Complete that on the device you will use.

If the school gave a Course ID instead of a link, Evolve remote-testing instructions say to open My Evolve, redeem the Course ID, and wait for the HESI NG course to appear.

Pathway B — Prometric center or ProProctor

Prometric’s Elsevier page currently lists HESI Admission Assessment (A2) for RN, PN, or HP, and A2 with Critical Thinking (A2CT), as exams that may be taken in a Prometric center or, when offered, through remote ProProctor. Scheduling still depends on eligibility your program controls. Prometric’s remote page notes that an eligibility number can be required to schedule.

Do not assume every A2 is a Prometric appointment. Many cohorts never leave campus testing.

Pathway C — School lab or another remote vendor

Some programs test in their own lab. Evolve faculty remote-proctoring material also documents ProctorU for certain A2 remote setups. If your PDF says ProctorU, follow that PDF—not a Prometric screenshot from Reddit.

Remote versus center testing compares those settings. Cost explains why fees differ by pathway.

A short registration checklist

  1. Save the current admissions testing page.
  2. Create or recover one Evolve account with an email you still read.
  3. Redeem the Course ID or open the school’s registration link.
  4. Complete the compatibility check on the test device when instructed.
  5. Bring the ID and confirmation the pathway named—not a generic “what to bring” list from another exam.

After the appointment exists, confirm what is on the HESI A2 for your assigned exams, then preview those HESI A2 academic skills in Passy.

Calculator rules are not implied by registration. See calculator.

If two applications use two pathways, keep both confirmation emails. Then keep HESI A2 practice inside each application’s assigned exams in Passy.

A second Evolve login “just in case” is how results later attach to the wrong identity.

When the date is set, use Passy for the next assigned-exam session instead of creating another account.
