How Much Does the HESI A2 Cost?
HESI A2 cost is set by the program and testing pathway, not a single Elsevier sticker price. Separate exam access, proctoring, and transcript or retake fees.
Short answer
Passy cannot publish a single official HESI A2 price that applies nationwide. Elsevier delivers the assessment through institutions; the amount you pay depends on how that institution sells access, whether you test on campus, at Prometric, or with a remote vendor, and whether extra transcript or retake charges apply. Read the current fee line on your program’s testing page and the payment screen in the registration pathway you were told to use.
Price follows the pathway, not a recycled blog number
Search results that still quote one dollar amount are usually describing one school, one year, or one vendor. The A2/ALC student registration instructions explain how to open the course, pick a time, and launch. They do not show a price or a payment step. The 2026 own-device student guide says payment starts from the HESI e-Commerce email your instructor sends, and that email shows the price for that payment ID. The remote-proctoring instructions say to complete payment for proctoring fees when that step applies. None of those documents is a national fee table. Fees that are easy to mix together
Treat these as separate line items when they appear:
- Exam access sold or bundled by the school
- Proctoring or seat fee for a campus lab, Prometric, or remote vendor
- Retake charges if the school or vendor bills another sitting
- Score sending or extra report copies, if the school does not automatically receive Evolve results
Evolve remote-testing student instructions mention completing payment for proctoring fees when that step applies. Prometric scheduling for Elsevier exams is a different checkout when that is your pathway. Neither source is a national price list.
Refund and reschedule rules for Prometric appointments
If your program uses Elsevier’s HESI NG distance-testing path, with a Prometric test center or ProProctor remote seat, Elsevier’s March 2026 student guide sets these rules for canceling (unregistering) in HESI NG:

Rescheduling should happen at least 30 calendar days before the appointment; otherwise extra fees or fee forfeiture may apply. At a Prometric center, an expired ID or a name that does not match your Evolve registration means you forfeit the appointment and its fees. For ProProctor, an exam you cannot complete because your device, connection, or room did not meet the requirements does not qualify for a free exam or a refund.
Campus labs and other remote vendors set their own refund terms, so read the policy for the pathway your program named.
How to verify the number you will actually pay
- Open the program’s current HESI testing page, not a PDF from a prior year.
- Start the registration path in how to register until the official payment screen.
- Ask whether the quoted amount includes remote proctoring.
- Ask whether a retake is billed again (retake rules).
- Ignore marketplace listings that are not named in the school instructions.
Remote testing can add a vendor fee that an on-campus sitting does not.
If two applications are involved, ask each program whether it accepts the same report before you budget a second fee. Practice the exams those applications assign in the Passy HESI A2 prep app only after that list is real.
What a “cheap HESI” listing usually is
It is often an unofficial practice product, an expired school quote, or a different HESI exam (specialty or exit). Admission Assessment A2 registration should match the Course ID, Prometric eligibility, or campus instructions you were given.
Before paying for another sitting, confirm the retake rules and use your section results to decide what to review.
