PTCB Exam Results: Preliminary vs Official PTCE Scores

The screen is unofficial. The account file is official.

PTCB’s CPhT page splits results into two layers. Unofficial output appears on screen after the survey, and a printed unofficial copy may be available at Pearson. Official results post to the PTCB Account within three weeks. If you still have preparation ahead, keep a PTCE review path ready in Passy → rather than refreshing the portal every hour.

PTCB is explicit that preliminary reports are typically an indication of performance but are not official or final. Treat a “pass” on the monitor as good news that still needs the account file. Treat a “fail” on the monitor as a warning that still needs the official report before you reapply.

What you cannot speed up

PTCB states it cannot expedite processing of exam results or certification information. Three weeks is the public outer window on the CPhT page, not a promise that every file appears on day two. If nothing is posted after that window, use PTCB’s published support channels—not a forum workaround.

Passing, once official, is a scaled score of 1,400 on a 1,000–1,600 range. PTCB passing score explains the scale. This page is the timing and status distinction.

If the official result is a fail
