Nurse aide certification
Federal rules for covered state-approved nurse aide competency programs require a written or oral exam and a skills demonstration. Each state selects its testing arrangements. In Pennsylvania, the NNAAP written exam has 70 questions (60 scored) in two hours, or an oral version, plus five skills in 30 minutes. Tennessee uses a different knowledge-exam format, so the Pennsylvania numbers are not a national rule. Other states use Prometric, Headmaster/D&S, or their own exams, and fees, retake limits, and skills lists differ. Check your state's nurse aide registry or testing vendor.
