HESI A2 Study Guide: What to Study for Each Section

Confirm the exams you will sit before you open a book

A HESI A2 study plan that ignores your school’s assigned exams wastes the week. Elsevier provides seven academic exams; programs may administer all of them or a customized subset. Write the current admissions list down, then turn those assigned HESI A2 exams into a short study sequence in Passy → instead of copying someone else’s “full test” calendar.

What Elsevier’s current review actually covers

The current HESI Admission Assessment Exam Review (6th edition, 2024) walks through math, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, biology, chemistry, and anatomy and physiology. Elsevier’s 2022 scientific-evidence paper groups the same seven exams as English Language, Math, and Science.

That is the study boundary Passy uses. Physics appeared in older fifth-edition review copy; it is not a chapter in the current sixth edition. If a school still names Physics or a Critical Thinking module, treat that as that school’s assignment and confirm it in writing.

Grammar still matters even without a dedicated Passy Grammar URL in this launch cluster. It is one of the three English Language exams. Give it a real block if your program assigned it.

How to prioritize when several exams are required

Do not split every week into seven equal slices unless you were assigned seven exams.

1. Required list first. Drop unassigned science exams from the calendar.
2. Method misses next. A ratio setup error is a math problem. A main-idea miss is a reading problem. An organ-system mix-up is A&P.
3. Admissions rule last. If a program publishes a section minimum for Math or A&P, those exams get extra repair time. That rule comes from the school, not from a national HESI cutoff.

Work a mixed HESI A2 preview in Passy → after you have the list, then name the exam behind each miss.
